With the aim of expanding the use of digital payments across the country and Promotion of Bangla QR, a special campaign was held on Monday morning at the AGB Colony Kitchen Market in Motijheel, Dhaka, organized by IFIC Bank PLC under the initiative of Bangladesh Bank.
The campaign commenced at 9:00 AM with Mr. Md. Mostaqur Rahman, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, visiting the AGB Colony Kitchen Market. During the visit, the Governor demonstrated the ease and effectiveness of digital payments by directly purchasing goods using Bangla QR. He also interacted with local merchants and highlighted the use of Bangla QR, the benefits of cashless transactions and various aspects of safe and secure digital payments.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Syed Mansur Mustafa, Managing Director of IFIC Bank PLC, highlighted that with the patronage of Bangladesh Bank, the Government’s initiative to promote cashless transactions is steadily gaining popularity. He noted that the introduction of free access to Bangla QR-based payment services from 1 October is expected to further accelerate adoption. He also emphasized the importance of cashless transactions in ensuring greater transparency and good governance, expressing optimism that Bangla QR transactions will soon gain widespread acceptance among both consumers and businesses.
Bangladesh Bank has been implementing various initiatives, including Bangla QR, to expand the scope of cashless transactions and develop an inclusive digital payment ecosystem across the country. In continuation of these efforts, IFIC Bank PLC, with its extensive network of more than 1,400 branches and Uposhakhas and approximately 60,000 merchants, is bringing modern and convenient banking services closer to people across the country. At the same time, the Bank continues to play an active role in promoting digital payment solutions such as Bangla QR and increasing public awareness regarding their use.
