IFIC Bank PLC and Bangladesh Bank have signed an agreement for IFIC Bank’s participation in the Tk 5,000 crore capital refinance fund established by Bangladesh Bank for the CMSME sector.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, at a ceremony held at the A. N. Hamidullah Conference Room at Bangladesh Bank’s Head Office. Md. Zabdul Islam, Director of the SME & Special Programs Department of Bangladesh Bank, and Mr. Syed Mansur Mustafa, Managing Director of IFIC Bank PLC, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions.
Mr. Md. Anis Ur Rahman, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Mr. Nahid Rahman, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, and Ms. Shahanaj Pervin, Additional Director were also present. Representing IFIC Bank were Helal Ahmed, Chief of Branch Business, and Ms. Fariha Haider, Head of SME.
The fund has been established by Bangladesh Bank as part of the Tk 60,000 crore incentive package announced by the central bank. Its objective is to provide the necessary working-capital loans/investment to CMSMEs so that they can operate at full capacity in production, services and business activities, while also creating direct and indirect employment and helping to accelerate the country’s sluggish economy.
Under this fund, generally operational CMSMEs that are unable to operate at full capacity because of a shortage of working capital will be eligible for financing at an interest rate of 9%.
IFIC Bank is working to provide customers with necessary banking and financing facilities through its extensive network of branches and sub-branches across the country. Participation in Bangladesh Bank’s refinance fund will further expand the bank’s financing coverage in the CMSME sector and strengthen IFIC Bank’s contribution to financial inclusion and sustainable economic development in Bangladesh.
